Terra - one of the elements meaning earth. In art, basic colors such as blue, yellow, red and gray were assigned to the four elements, starting from Empedocles and ending with Leonardo da Vinci. Originally, yellow was attributed to the element of fire, and Leonardo used yellow instead of gray for earth.
