Flying fish are a symbol of a free man, not dependent on anyone, having his own will, who is not afraid of any obstacles or adversities. Umi is an unconventional and surprising pattern. The flying fish motif, although very original, combined with not obvious a spectrum of gray and geometric lines will give the effect of subdued madness in the interior. The circle inscribed in the pattern gives the effect of depth, while the technique of making the flying fish brings to mind a linocut, which additionally gives Umi three-dimensionality.
